Virtually travel back in time and go on a quest for the lost colours in old mines at Deutsches Bergbau-Museum Bochum!

An evil AI controls the colors in a future where everything is gray. It tracks it down and collects it to hoard it out of reach of humanity. No one could express their creativity through painting anymore. Peoples souls became as bleak as their surroundings. After hearing rumors about an abandoned archaeological archive that could contain valuable information, Jo travels to the site and discovers something incredible: a map with the locations of four ancient laboratories that could hold the key to the origin of the colours.

With your help, a race against time begins to find the labs and bring the colours back into the world. Can you do it before the AI finds out and stops you? During your adventure, you will learn different archaeological methods as well as old mining techniques in augmented reality and in the end you can use the recovered colour to make your world a little more colourful, too.

The game can be played in the Mining - Stone Age with Future exhibition of the Deutsche Bergbau-Museum Bochum and was developed as part of the joint project "Blackbox Archäologie".

In the Blackbox project, the three collaborative partners - the LWL Museum für Archäologie und Kultur, the LWL Römermuseum Haltern and the Deutsche Bergbau-Museum Bochum, Leibniz Research Museum for Georesources - open up closed spaces of archaeological work in a participatory way and with digital means, making knowledge transparent and discussable. The design studio NEEEU Spaces GmbH supports the joint museums as a digital partner. Funded in the Kultur Digital program of the German Federal Cultural Foundation and funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media. The project runs until the end of 2023.
